Libreville, Wednesday January 1, 2025 (Gabon News) – The Gabonese Head of State, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema has chosen the province of Ogooué-Ivindo to present his wishes for the year 2025 to the Nation.

It was from the town of Makokou that he launched a call for unity, reconciliation and the fight against corruption, before revealing his vision for the future. The Gabonese must work together to build the New Gabon around the economic development projects that he took care to announce.

Well before, the president of the transition took stock of the past year. A year that he considers more enriching with several achievements for the well-being of the populations. Regarding the restoration of institutions, he mentioned the success of the constitutional referendum organized last November.

“The Gabonese were able to express themselves freely on the Institutions that govern them. The good participation, with exemplary constructive debates and the peaceful conduct of this consultation testify to our collective desire to provide our country with strong and democratic institutions,” declared Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema.

Progress, according to the Head of State, has also been made in the economic and social fields. He cited for example “the rehabilitation of national roads, urban roads, the modernization of hospitals and the construction of schools”. This work, it must be said, generated several jobs.

Not to mention the return to the State heritage of the capital and assets of ASSALA Gabon, CECA-GADIS and recently the Société Nationale des Bois du Gabon (SNBG). In the assets of the rulers, there is also the creation of the new airline Fly Gabon and the Bank for Commerce and Entrepreneurship of Gabon (BCEG).

But these efforts will not disappear with 2024. According to President Oligui Nguema, they will continue in 2025 for the well-being of populations who aspire to a better life.

Infrastructure projects and job creation

For 2025, the President of the Republic proposed solutions to revive growth, create jobs and improve the living conditions of his compatriots.

He insisted on the diversification of the economy with the imminent launches of major projects around the exploitation of Bélinga iron in Ogooué Ivindo with the creation of 163,000 jobs for young people, the Mayumba port site, the investment in human capital and social protection.

Without forgetting that in 2025, the issues are also political. Gabon must organize elections which will mark the end of the transition.

Free and transparent elections

2025 is a year in which Gabonese democracy will be tested. The CTRI calendar provides for the organization of the presidential election next August followed by elections (legislative and local).

“The timetable will be strictly respected. Our democracy will emerge strengthened,” promised Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema. The Head of State, however, invited the Gabonese to register massively on the electoral lists during the period of revision of the electoral register set from January 2 to 31, 2025, in order to participate in the various elections.

It is therefore a speech which announces a bright future for 2025 if everything is done in a spirit of consolidation of the foundations put in place in 2024 for renewal.
